MSpectrum & Meycauayan College Unite for Solar Rooftop

  • March 6, 2025

MSpectrum Inc., Meralco’s solar subsidiary, has teamed up with Meycauayan College to install a 300-kilowatt-peak solar rooftop at the school campus in Bulacan.

Set for completion in the third quarter of 2025, the solar rooftop is projected to produce around 414,400 kilowatt-hours of renewable energy each year. This will help the school cut its carbon emissions by 292.48 metric tons—comparable to planting 13,000 trees or eliminating over 1.17 million kilometers of vehicle travel annually.

A mutually rewarding partnership

Quality education has always been a priority for Meycauayan College, and Board Chairman Marcos C. Hermoso noted that its partnership with MSpectrum will help reduce electricity costs while reinforcing this commitment.

“With MSpectrum’s support, we are looking forward to reducing our operational expenses,” he shared. “Any savings will greatly benefit the operations of Meycauayan College, and ultimately, we hope to utilize these savings in the form of initiatives that will benefit our stakeholders, which include the teaching staff and students.”

In turn, MSpectrum President and CEO Ma. Cecilia M. Domingo expressed gratitude for the opportunity to assist the college in embracing solar energy. “This marks just the beginning of our partnership. At MSpectrum, we are committed to supporting our partners every step of the way—addressing any concerns and ensuring a smooth, seamless transition to renewable energy,” she said.

A strategic alliance for sustainability

Meycauayan College boasts a colorful history, tracing its roots back to 1925 as the first private high school in the municipality. In response to rising costs in the 1970s, the institution expanded to offer college programs, securing permits in 1977 for its initial degree courses. It stands today as one of Bulacan’s oldest higher education institutions, providing a full spectrum of academic programs from basic to graduate education.

Meanwhile, MSpectrum takes pride in its customized solar solutions, designed for corporate, business, and home energy needs by deeply analyzing energy usage patterns and collaborating with top-tier technology providers.

With eight years of experience, the company has installed over 80 megawatts of solar panel systems, supplying clean energy to an estimated 40,000 households.

According to MSpectrum, the project supports Meralco’s mission to provide sustainable, dependable, and efficient energy solutions, including to educational institutions that nurture future generations.

Last February, Meycauayan College celebrated its 100th anniversary, commemorating a century of dedication to education and community service. The collaboration aligns with this milestone, reinforcing the institution’s long-standing commitment to academic excellence.
