A Towering Shift: Shangri-la Properties Goes Green with ACEN

  • May 23, 2025

ACEN Corporation, the energy arm of the Ayala Group, will provide renewable electricity to The Saint Francis Shangri-La Place, a high-rise, luxury residential building located in Ortigas and developed by Shang Properties Inc.

The shift to cleaner energy is being facilitated by ACEN Renewable Energy Solutions (ACEN RES), the company’s retail electricity supply unit. Under this initiative, the building’s common areas will be fully powered by renewable sources, reinforcing its efforts to enhance environmental sustainability. The renewable energy powering the building will be sourced from ACEN’s nationwide network of solar, wind, and geothermal facilities.

This initiative was made possible through the Green Energy Option Program (GEOP), a government policy that enables electricity consumers to choose renewable energy sources through their preferred supplier.

“ACEN RES is dedicated to empowering organizations to make the switch to renewable energy to help them achieve their business and sustainability aspirations,” ACEN Vice President for Legal John Henry Liquete shared.

ACEN: Eco-friendly living

According to ACEN, the transition of The Saint Francis Shangri-La Place to renewable energy not only supports the building’s sustainability goals but also serves as a model for other businesses looking to contribute to the Philippines’ clean energy shift, as highlighted by Liquete.

By switching to clean power, the tower is projected to cut its carbon emissions by approximately 2,200 tons each year, comparable to the emissions from a gasoline vehicle traveling around 8.8 million kilometers.

The Saint Francis Shangri-La Place is made up of two 60-story towers, making it one of the tallest residential developments in the Philippines.

Joseph Salting, head of property management at Shang Property Management Services, emphasized that the move reflects their dedication to promoting an eco-friendly lifestyle for residents. “This transition to renewable energy for our common areas aligns with our commitment to providing our residents with a sustainable and environmentally responsible living environment,” he said.
