ACEN Extends ₱900-M Support to Subsidiary for Wind Project

  • October 9, 2025

ACEN Corp. (ACEN) has extended a ₱900 million short-term loan to its subsidiary, Giga Ace 6, Inc. (GA6), to support the ongoing development of the Quezon North Onshore Wind Power Project, further expanding the Ayala-led company’s renewable energy portfolio.

In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE), ACEN shared that the loan agreement will finance supporting infrastructure and transmission facilities for the project.

The large-scale 553-megawatt (MW) wind farm, which straddles the municipalities of Mauban and Real in Quezon, as well as Paete and Kalayaan in Laguna, will be completed in two phases

The first phase of the project, targeted for completion by the end of 2026, is expected to generate 334.5 MW of clean power. Phase 2 of the project will have a generating capacity of 208 MW and is expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2027.

Earlier this year, ACEN secured a ₱34.41 billion loan agreement, to be repaid in 15 years, to support the Quezon wind project. The omnibus loan and security agreement (OLSA) was executed between three major banks: BDO Unibank Inc. (BDO), Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI), and Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. (RCBC).

According to a statement released by BDO last June, the wind power project is “set to become the largest wind power facility in the Philippines.”

“This project is expected to deliver clean, reliable power to the Luzon grid, help avoid significant carbon emissions, and generate livelihood opportunities for host communities,” BDO added.

ACEN, the energy arm of Ayala Corporation, has a total attributable renewable energy capacity of 7 gigawatts (GW) across its active, in-progress, and committed projects. It aims to have 20 GW of attributable renewables capacity by 2030.

The company has operations in several countries, including the Philippines, Australia, Vietnam, India, Indonesia, Laos, and the United States. The Philippines will continue to serve as ACEN’s primary market, currently representing 40% of the total capacity.
