Drive Sustainably: How to Care for Your Electric Vehicle

  • August 12, 2024

So you just bought an electric vehicle (EV). Congratulations, you’ve taken one step closer to saving the world! But EVs still consume electricity – here are tips on how to use your electric car efficiently and further reduce your carbon footprint.

1. Monitor your EV’s battery.

Most electric cars have built-in battery management systems with data on battery health. Regularly checking the battery ensures the longevity of your vehicle.

2. Take routes with EV charging stations.

Make sure you have a pit stop to a charging station during your trip! EVs don’t like to be on low battery, so make sure to replenish its power before it dips.

3. Conserve your EV’s battery.

Don’t go too hard on the accelerator – it’s a major energy zapper. Reduce the duration of air conditioning usage by rolling down the windows, and take the most efficient routes. And please, resist the temptation of joyrides for Earth’s sake!

4. Stay tech-savvy.

EV’s have regular software updates, so install those in a timely manner and keep yourself updated on new system features that may conserve more energy.

5. Participate in circular education.

Take advantage of free resources such as blogs, vlogs and social media groups on EV tips. Pay it forward by sharing knowledge with others so more people can contribute to building a sustainable future for transportation.
