ERC OK’s Transmission Facilities for Two Solar Projects
- March 20, 2025
The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has recently approved the development of transmission lines for two solar power projects, enabling their direct connection to the national grid. These two projects will help improve the country’s renewable energy (RE) capacity, offering a total of 316 megawatt-peak (MWp) once completed.

The first project is the San Isidro Solar Power Project in Leyte, which has a capacity of 280 MWp. The ERC has authorized San Isidro Solar Power Corp. (SISPC) to build transmission lines connecting the solar plant to the Visayas grid. According to the energy regulator, the San Isidro Power Project will initially connect to the 230-kilovolt (kV) Tabango substation, a provisional strategy, with plans to eventually switch to the proposed 230-kV Tugas cable termination station for long-term integration.
The transmission infrastructure is expected to cost P1.659 billion, and the project is set to begin commercial operations later this year.
SISPC is a fully owned subsidiary of Greenlight Renewables Holdings Inc., a joint venture between Emerging Power Corp. and Shell Overseas Investments B.V. Emerging Power is the renewable energy division of the publicly listed Nickel Asia Corp.

The ERC also approved the development of point-to-point transmission facilities for RASLAG Corp.’s 36.646 MWp solar plant in Pampanga. This project will be connected to the grid via the 69 kV Mexico-Clark Line 1 operated by the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP).

Located in San Pablo, Magalang, Pampanga, the RASLAG IV Solar Power Plant has been in the testing phase since last year. It is expected to generate 53 gigawatt-hours of electricity to power approximately 24,000 homes annually. The company projects around P285 million in revenue in the plant’s first year of operation.
These approvals highlight the Philippines’ continued push for clean energy, aiming to reduce its reliance on fossil fuels and boost renewable energy sources like solar power.
