MGen Signs Deals with New Retail Supplier EvoEnergi
- July 14, 2025
Meralco PowerGen Corporation (MGen), the power generation subsidiary of Manila Electric Company (Meralco), has secured two power supply agreements (PSAs) with EvoEnergi Inc., a newly-licensed retail electricity supplier (RES).
Through its thermal and renewable energy subsidiaries—Global Business Power (MThermal) and MGen Renewable Energy, Inc. (MGreen)—MGen will provide EvoEnergi with electricity sufficient to serve approximately 62,000 households. The supply will be a mix of renewable and conventional thermal energy sources.
“This partnership with EvoEnergi reflects the strength of MGen’s diversified energy portfolio. By combining conventional and renewable sources, we are helping meet the evolving needs of the retail electricity market while supporting the country’s transition to a cleaner and more secure energy future,” said Emmanuel V. Rubio, MGen President and CEO.
MGen added that the agreements also help EvoEnergi fulfill requirements under the Renewable Portfolio Standards, which mandate that power suppliers source a certain portion of their electricity from eligible renewable energy resources.
“With our expanding customer base, this partnership provides access to a more diversified and sustainable energy supply. It solidifies our shared commitment to sustainability and forging a better future for the Philippines,” D&L Industries President and Chief Executive Officer Alvin Lao said.

Helping businesses take control of energy costs through strategic sourcing
EvoEnergi is an affiliate of D&L Industries, Inc., a publicly-listed Filipino company specializing in food ingredients and oleochemicals.
EvoEnergi is among the first retail electricity suppliers to participate in the government’s Retail Aggregation Program (RAP), which enables multiple customers in the same area or distribution network to pool their electricity needs. This helps businesses choose their preferred supplier and access lower power rates.
“For many businesses, electricity is a major cost driver, but few realize they are overpaying,” said Julian Lao, President of EvoEnergi. “We help businesses achieve real savings, allowing them to reallocate resources to growth and innovation, instead of paying excessive electricity costs.”
Lao also emphasized the importance of a more proactive approach to managing electricity costs.
“Electricity procurement should be a strategic decision, not just another fixed expense,” Lao shared. “Our goal [at EvoEnergi] is to help businesses optimize their energy use in a way that aligns with their financial and operational objectives.”
