Sneaky Things that Hike Up Your Electricity Bill

  • August 9, 2024

Not noticing a change in your bills even when you try your best to conserve energy? We’ve made a list of some sneaky things that could be the culprit.

1. Plugged adapters and appliances

Even though you’re not using them, your plugs are still absorbing energy. Make it a habit to disconnect them and watch your savings rise instead!

2. Cooking at every mealtime

The more often you cook, the more electricity you use. Save time and energy by batch-cooking your meals for reheating.

3. Unfriendly lightbulbs

Residential LED’s save about 75% more energy – more than enough reason for you to replace every bulb in the house with them!

4. Alone time

Having each family member or housemate in their own room at the house multiplies the electricity used. Try to schedule some bonding time by having the whole household in one room to strengthen both your relational ties and energy conservation.

5. Closed windows

If privacy isn’t an issue, let there be light! Opening your blinds and curtains allows you to take advantage of natural light to power your activities while keeping the lights off.
