Solar and Wind Ventures Drive 27% Rise in Alternergy Profit

  • September 29, 2025

Alternergy Holdings Corporation reported stronger earnings for fiscal year 2025, crediting the growth to contributions from its operating solar and wind assets. In its latest disclosure, the renewable energy (RE) firm reported that consolidated net income reached ₱165 million, representing a 27% increase from ₱130 million in the previous year.

The company said the profit boost underscored the impact of its expanding clean energy portfolio, which includes several ongoing solar and wind developments.

Renewable asset expansion

Sharp gains in 2025 saw consolidated assets more than double to ₱17.9 billion from ₱8.7 billion, supported by ongoing wind, solar, and hydropower projects under its “Triple Play Portfolio.” Revenues likewise climbed 31% to ₱360 million, while net income surged more than threefold from its 2023 debut year.

Its stronger performance was backed by progress on several key developments, including the 4.6-megawatt (MW) Dupinga run-of-river hydropower plant in Nueva Ecija, the 28-MW Solana Balsik solar park in Bataan, and two major wind projects—the 128-MW Tanay facility in Rizal and the 64-MW Alabat site in Quezon.

The month before, Alternergy secured clearance from the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) to link its Tanay wind project to the Luzon grid. The permit allows the development of a 500-kilovolt (kV) transmission line, a switchyard, and a transformer, along with an interconnection facility for the site.

Company President Gerry P. Magbanua said he was confident that Alternergy’s ongoing construction projects would continue to strengthen its financial results. “We expect that once the ongoing construction of the four projects is completed by the end of 2025 and early 2026, there will be a substantial boost in Alternergy’s financial standing,” he noted.

Stronger financial footing

A target of 500 MW of additional renewable capacity over the next two years underscores Alternergy’s expansion plans. The company stated its achievements are reinforcing its position as one of the leading emerging RE players in the Philippines.

“Together with our operating projects steadily generating revenues, our projects under construction, and the new pipeline of projects being put together, we are positively increasing value to our shareholders as one of the fastest growing renewable energy developers in the country,” Magbanua said.

In Albay, Alternergy gained approval earlier this year for an onshore wind project expected to span several towns and deliver up to 150 MW capacity. The contract was awarded by the Department of Energy (DOE) as part of its renewable push.

The company also broadened its pipeline through five projects awarded in the DOE’s fourth Green Energy Auction, which covered ground-mounted and floating solar, onshore wind, and solar facilities paired with storage. These additions strengthen Alternergy’s bid to scale up its RE portfolio.
